Are you a strategic transport leader who thrives on improving operational performance and scaling logistics operations?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well established and growing logistics business in the North West that is entering a new chapter of growth. With strong leadership in place and clear growth ambitions, the business is looking to appoint a Head of Transport to lead and develop its transport function, ensuring the operation is efficient and commercially focused.

This is a senior leadership role within the business, responsible for overseeing fleet performance, operational delivery and transport strategy while driving improvements across fleet utilisation, cost efficiency and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the overall transport strategy and support operational and long-term company growth.
• Take responsibility for key metrics across the transport department including fleet operations, driver management, MPG, OTIF and delivery performance.
• Driver operational efficiency across the fleet, improving vehicle utilisation, route planning and cost control.
• Manage and develop a team of transport professionals including Transport Managers, Driver Trainers, Fleet Officers and other operational staff.
• Produce key reports to communicate and collaborate with senior leadership to align transport operations with wider commercial supply chain objectives.
• Collaborate across departments with planning, warehousing, customer service and finance teams.
• Support commercial activities including contract discussions, tender evaluations and operational unput into new business opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation including DVSA, Driver hours, vehicle safety standards, implementing robust safety policies and driver training.
• Deliver excellent customer service standards by resolving queries, complaints and escalations efficiently.

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in transport management (ideally within a 3PL) with a proven track record of leading teams, driving operational excellence and delivering results in fast-paced dynamic environments.
• Transport Manager CPC is essential and a clear commitment to safety-first operations.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance operational effectiveness with commercial reasoning.
• Strong knowledge of UK Transport legislation including DVSA regulations, operator license requirement and WTD.
• Experience managing a large driver pool and transport office teams.
• Confident communicator, capable of influencing at all levels, including customers.
• Experience leading operational change or scaling logistics operations with a growing business.
