Merchandise Trading Manager
North West
£45,000 - £55,000 depending on level of experience + bonus + benefits

Role Profile
After yet another hugely successful year, our client, a market leading retail business based in the North West, is looking to appoint a Trading Manager to join their growing team. Reporting into the Head of Merchandising, this is a demanding yet rewarding role where your passion for product and determination will be key to your success in this role. This position is open those working in retail head offices at Merchandiser level and above. This is a unique opportunity to join one of the UK's fastest growing retailers that can offer further development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plans that consistently deliver on sales, margin and stock obligations
  • Ensure your teams category plans are sufficiently challenging to push the overall business forward, demanding growth and credible plans to achieve this
  • Capture key learnings each month
  • Plan to reduce waste
  • Sign off financial roll ups with team before presentation to the Chairman
  • Review all financial plans (Sales, Margin and Stock) by week/month to ensure they are aligned with departmental plans and commercial activity
  • Plan promotional activity
  • Encourage the team to work to critical path to ensure product and commercial activity is delivered on time
  • Deliver on sales, margin and stock targets for your division
  • Sign off purchase orders for your team, ensuring they deliver commercial requirements
  • Agree intake priorities with other Trading Managers and the Head of Merchandising when demand for intake is greater than capacity
  • Review forward sales, margin and stock re-forecasts against plan, finding commercial solutions to exploit trading opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Sign off any in season trading actions e.g rebuys / cancellations / stock rephasing
  • Sign off proposed in season price changes with the Buying Manager to maximise profit, ensure they are accurately actioned in line with agreed process
  • Attend adhoc board meetings



Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Core, bricks and mortar retail merchandising experience is essential
  • Currently working at established Merchandiser level or above
  • Fashion experience would be advantageous
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload
  • Track record of making commercial business decisions / driving department growth
  • Passionate about product
  • Understanding of how stores differ / how to trade them
  • Reactive
  • Hardworking and resilient
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Strong numerical / analytical / IT skills
