Role Profile
Our client, an award winning retailer based near Wigan, is looking to appoint a Trainee Assistant Merchandiser to join their friendly and supportive Merchandising team voted 'team of the year' in 2018. Reporting into the Merchandiser, you will support them in the day to day running of the department covering all sales channels, assisting with key tasks to deliver sales and margin targets and delivering target stock levels. This is hands on and varied role where you will work closely with others across the wider business and your opinions will be valued by the senior team. These positions will ideally suit those with some experience of working in a head office merchandising admin assistant role, or a bright and analytical graduate (economics, mathematics, business studies etc.) keen to secure a commercial role within a retail head office that can offer learning and development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Running of weekly reports, reviewing data and providing insight into figures
  • Product setup, purchase order date amendments, raising of purchase orders and loading of barcodes
  • Undertaking ad hoc analysis
  • Assisting with WSSI maintenance and management
  • Managing product setup, performing checks to ensure the product ranges look as desired online
  • Assisting the line manager with Critical Path maintenance
  • Undertaking competitor analysis
  • Carrying out weekly stock reviews

Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Some experience working as a merchandising admin assistant within a retail head office would be preferred, however graduates with relevant degrees will also be considered (Buying & Merchandising, Business Studies, Economics, Accounting & Finance, Mathematics etc.)
  • Enthusiasm and eagerness to learn
  • Highly organised with attention to detail
  • A good level of admin / IT skills, in particular Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication and team working skills
  • Team player who can also work on own autonomy
  • Due to the location of the business you will need to drive and own a car
