Our client is a global business and true leader in their field. We are supporting their recruitment of a Fleet Technician to be based at their workshop in Didcot. The role is Monday to Friday with rotating shifts of 5am - 2:30pm and 11am - 8pm. This is a great opportunity for anyone with proven Transport experience and driver management who is looking to join an established, reputable business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute regular maintenance and unscheduled repairs on specialist fleet vehicles and trailer systems.
  • Ensure all mechanical and technical work aligns with UK transportation compliance standards as outlined by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
  • Maintain a understanding of relevant regulatory manuals, including vehicle inspection standards and defect categorisation protocols.
  • Accurately log all maintenance activities using both manual and digital platforms to fulfil internal tracking needs and legal obligations.
  • Use diagnostic hardware and software tools to analyse faults, update systems, and perform calibrations where necessary.
  • Follow documented procedures such as work instructions, safety protocols, and risk assessments, while also assessing risks dynamically during fieldwork to ensure safe practices.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty vehicles, preferably within a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with advanced diagnostic equipment and repair technologies.
  • Strong focus on precision and regulatory compliance.
  • Solid fault-finding skills, with the ability to assess problems logically and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
  • Able to perform reliably in fast-paced or changing environments.
  • Proactive attitude toward professional development and learning new technical systems.
  • Completed an industry-recognised apprenticeship in mechanical or automotive engineering.
  • Additional qualifications (NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent) or a foundation degree in automotive technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field would be an advantageous.
