Role Profile
Our client is a one of the UK's most well-established independent plant and tool hire businesses. They are looking for an experienced transport planner to join their Head Office in Flintshire. Operating a fleet of over 70 vehicles across over 12 depots nationwide, our client provides a strong network of plant, tools and specialist equipment to customers throughout the UK.
Reporting into the Senior Transport Planner, you'll join a team of transport planners ensuing daily scheduling of over 10,000 items of plant and equipment across a nationwide depot network. Whether it's repositioning specialist equipment to meet demand or planning efficient multi-drop routes, no two days are the same. Working closely with the hire desk, drivers and depot teams you will safely coordinate transport plans and meet diverse customer expectations.
The role is site based, Monday-Friday 7am-6pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily deliveries and collections using the company's own fleet of around 70 vehicles and drivers.
- Work closely with the Hire Desk to ensure customer bookings are planned and delivered efficiently.
- Solve day-today transport challenges by identifying the most efficient movement of equipment between depots and customers sites.
- Build strong working relationships with drivers and provide clear daily communication.
- Ensure compliance with driver hours, transport legislation and company policies.
- Monitor vehicle tracking systems and respond proactively to any delays or issues.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in transport planning, logistics or fleet coordination. Plant hire experience advantageous.
- Strong geographical knowledge and route planning ability.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- IT literate with experience using transport management systems.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
