Role Profile

Ifor Williams Trailers (IWT) is Britain's leading trailer manufacturer, operating at four advanced manufacturing sites across North Wales. The company was established in 1958 and to date has manufactured over half a million trailers.

The wide product range includes Livestock, Horsebox, General Duty, Tipper, Plant, Flatbed, Box Van trailers, Car Transporters, and pick-up Canopies. The customer base is equally diverse, ranging from the agricultural community to the plant and commercial industry and the leisure sector.

As IWT look to further enhance their market presence, they are recruiting a Head of Material Management to deliver products and service of the right quantity and at the right time. The role sits within the IWT senior management team and the right candidate will show a breadth of experience working with all functions, as well as suppliers and customers. You will be expected to lead and participate in the senior team and work with the company directors on tactical as well as transformation project.

Key Responsibilities

• Through a team of Material Planners, the Head of Material Planning will be accountable for the timeliness of sourcing the right products and services
• Constant monitoring of inventory levels to ensure there is no disruption to manufacturing
• Ensure all materials sourced meet quality standards and are cost efficient
• Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships and ensure the day to day fulfilment of supplier's contractual obligations
• Collaborate with internal departments and management teams to plan forecasting models
• Identify solutions to existing processes to reduce waste and increase quantity
• Work collaboratively with all functions to identify future trends and development
• Use root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and lean methodology to target improvements and achieve excellence
• Lead, coach and develop a team of Material Planners to ensure a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
• Create and maintain department budgets

Skills & Experience Required

This is a hands-on role requiring the Head of Material Management to roll up their sleeves and be engrained in the day to day detail. Candidate requirements include:

• Strong understanding of MRP and Bill of Materials
• Experience in leading and influencing internal stakeholders at an executive level
• Proven experience working within a manufacturing environment
• Solid understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems
• Advanced knowledge of forecasting and budgeting processes
• Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities
• High level of education, preferably Degree qualified
