The Opportunity
We're looking for an ambitious, relationship-driven National Account Manager to join a well-established, growing business. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven account manager to take ownership of a national portfolio, drive growth from existing customers, and win new business across a range of sectors.
You'll be a strategic seller with a consultative approach - someone who understands that great account management is about uncovering what customers actually need, not just what they ask for.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing and growing a portfolio of national accounts, hitting sales and profit targets set by the National Account Director
- Following quotes through to orders, maximising every commercial opportunity
- Winning new business through proactive lead generation, tender responses (RFQs), and consultative selling
- Building and maintaining strong pricing agreements and joint business plans with customers
- Working closely with internal teams - supply chain, customer service, marketing, and commercial - to ensure accounts run smoothly
- Leading on tenders and coordinating cross-functional input to win them
- Keeping accurate, up-to-date customer data and using it to drive smarter account reviews
- Travelling nationally to visit customers, build relationships, and deliver well-prepared presentations
- Supporting and mentoring National Account Executives and Sector Co-ordinators within the team
What We're Looking For
Essential;
- Minimum 3 years' account management experience with a track record of exceeding sales targets
- Proven ability to build robust, long-term client relationships at all levels
- Experience generating and closing new business, including negotiating complex contracts
- Strong numeracy, literacy, and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence (no more than 3 points) - this role involves regular national travel
- Comfortable handling confidential and commercially sensitive information
Desirable;
- Experience selling into the hotel sector would be highly advantageous
- Degree-level education
- Experience working within a matrixed organisation, collaborating across sales, supply chain, and marketing functions
You'll thrive in this role if you are;
- A confident, persuasive communicator who builds trust quickly
- Commercially sharp, with a strategic and consultative approach to selling
- Organised, self-disciplined, and able to manage a demanding travel schedule
- Resilient - comfortable handling setbacks and rejection without losing momentum
- Naturally collaborative, with the ability to influence colleagues as well as customers
What's On Offer
- £45,000 per annum
- Bonus scheme tied to performance
- Car or car allowance
- Wider company benefits package
- A national role with genuine autonomy and a clear path to progress within a growing account management structure
