We are currently recruiting a newly created senior position for our aerospace / automotive client based in the West Midlands.

This is an exciting and key role which will see you taking responsibility for a small team and overseeing the end to end supply chain for the categories under your management.


Role Profile

  • Ensure MRP forecasts and/or customer schedules are reviewed in a timely manner and that Purchase Orders are placed in line with these requirements.
  • Ensure planning team continue to maintain the data integrity within the MRP system
  • Analyse PO's raised that are in excess of the buyers limits and authorise or reject as necessary
  • Ensure that parts are being bought according to the liability agreements in place with the customers.
  • Actively manage the NPI process to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key suppliers
  • Ensure purchased parts arrive at destination on time via the most appropriate freight method to meet On -Time Delivery commitments.
  • Ensure vendor rating results are available when required
  • Continuous monitoring of inventory levels to ensure branch meets agreed inventory targets
  • Ensure Days on Hand objectives are met
  • Analyse monthly inventory report and work with Sales Dept to identify End Of Life or excess parts for potential customer claims.
  • Identify opportunities for inventory reduction through new initiatives with the supply base
  • Ensure Freight expenses are kept to a minimum through identification of consolidation opportunities and through the use of the most appropriate freight methods
  • Monitor and report on all Premium Freight requirements

Key responsibilities

  • Communicate & ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Continually review current processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Submit all required reports on time.
  • Maintain data integrity of MRP system to ensure accurate reporting

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong forecasting and supply planning background
  • Solid MRP & ERP background
  • Clear communicator who will have experience of working with people from all departments
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proven track record in supplier engagement, development and negotiation
  • Proven ability to act under pressure with calmness and decisive authority
